After paraphrasing, we check the AI likelihood of the revised text using the five top AI detectors. One is Quillbot's AI detectors, and the other four are:

What Do the Results Say About QuillBot Paraphrasing Tool’s Ability to Bypass AI Detection?  

The results vary. It is almost undetectable under ZeroGPT and Writer, with 6.49% and 0% AI detection rates, respectively. 

However, Quillbot, Originality, and GPTZero still recognize the text as 100% AI-generated. 

Why is there such a massive difference, you may ask. This may be due to the different detection abilities of AI detectors.

If we look closer, we can find that the phrasing tool primarily swaps words with their synonyms to change the text. It doesn't really shake up the sentence structure or craft sentences anew. It may be able to trick AI detectors with easy detection algorithms. 

However, it doesn't work for those with strict ones, which usually go deeper into the content's structure, style consistency, and more. 

How Good is the Quality of QuillBot Paraphrasing Tool’s Humanized Text?

To assess the quality of text humanized by the QuillBot Paraphrasing Tool, we utilized Grammarly, a well-known tool for evaluating grammar, readability, and overall text quality.

1. Overall Score, Readability & Grammar 

Grammarly provided an overall score for the humanized text: 91 out of 100.  

The score is good, indicating that the text is well-structured and coherent. However, we can still see some minor flaws, such as incorrect verb forms and unnecessary phrases.

In addition, the text uses the same sentences as the original text, and most changes involve simple synonyms rather than structural or stylistic changes.

Well, even if the scores are comparable, we still want to know if the AI ​​score will change if we accept all the suggested changes.

2. Accept Grammarly's Suggestion

We applied all of Grammarly's suggestions. As you can see, the score is now 99/100.  

3. AI Detection Scores After Improvements:  

We then used the same five detectors to check for AI likelihood.

Why did we test this?

Our previous testing of other humanizers found that grammatical errors could affect the detectors' judgment of AI ratios, which usually leads to a lower AI score.

The data shows that grammar improvements did not significantly change the AI ​​detection rate. Most tools' scores remained consistent.

To wrap up:

The Quillbot paraphrasing tool may work well as an alternative to AI humanizers with some loose AI detection tools. However, it cannot bypass tools with strict detection algorithms like Quillbot, Originality.ai, etc.
